Senior Product Manager – Brain Science

The mission of the Allen Institute is to unlock the complexities of bioscience and advance our knowledge to improve human health. Using an open science, multi-scale, team-oriented approach, the Allen Institute focuses on accelerating foundational research, developing standards and models, and cultivating new ideas to make a broad, transformational impact on science.

The mission of the Allen Institute for Brain Science is to accelerate the understanding of how the human brain works in health and disease. Using a big science approach, we generate useful public resources, drive technological and analytical advances, and discover fundamental brain properties.

The Allen Institute for Brain Science is seeking a Product Manager to join our product management team, which oversees a growing portfolio of technology products and solutions. Our product managers lead cross-functional initiatives at the intersection of science, technology, and business. We are hyper-focused on our customers: scientists at the Allen Institute and around the world. Our product management team amplifies those scientists’ voices and works with our software engineering teams to create strategic, practical solutions that accelerate neuroscience research.

The ideal candidate is energized spending time with users and experts to understand problems and find innovative solutions that address real needs. They have a track record of delivering results, even in the face of resource constraints and obstacles. They lead effectively with or without authority, leveraging transparency and trust to build relationships and influence cross-functional teams. The ideal candidate sets a high standard through their example as well as their advocacy for customer needs. They possess a unique blend of organizational and technical savvy that includes big-picture vision and the drive to make that vision a reality.

Our product management team supports many technology efforts but would currently benefit most from a product manager with expertise in either data processing & scientific computing OR web applications & UX. Candidates are encouraged to highlight their qualifications in one or both areas.

The Allen Institute believes that team science significantly benefits from the participation of diverse voices, experiences, and backgrounds. High-quality science can only be produced when it includes different perspectives. We are committed to increasing diversity across every team and encourage people from all backgrounds to apply for this role.
