Research Associate I - Molecular Genetics (Single Cell Transcriptomics)

Research Associate I Molecular Genetics

The Allen Institute for Brain Science is seeking a Research Associate who will be part of a multidisciplinary team within the Cell Types Program. The successful candidate will be a member of the Molecular Genetics team, which produces and analyzes large-scale single-cell transcriptomics data from primary mouse brain tissue, to define cell types within the brain.

The candidate will play a role in processing and analyzing the acquired single-cell transcriptomics data and make improvement to the pipeline. S/he will provide sequencing data to internal and external collaborators.

Job Responsibilities

  • Process and analyze single cell transcriptomics data.

  • Test and optimize algorithms that improve the transcriptomics processing and analysis pipelines.

  • Prepare sequencing data for sharing with internal and external collaborators.

Required Qualifications

  • B.A., B.S. in life sciences or computational biology (e.g., Neuroscience, Genomics, Genetics, or related field).

  • Proficiency in python or R, and Linux shell scripting.

Preferred Qualifications

  • 1+ years of bioinformatics experience.

  • M.S. in life sciences, computational biology or related field.

  • Knowledgeable about RNA-seq, ATAC-seq and/or ChIP-seq data.

  • Experience with high throughput data analysis.

  • Familiarity with cloud computing environments.

  • Ability to implement, test, and share new computational tools quickly, in an iterative manner, after feedback from experimental, data production, and analysis teams.
